LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Maybe you can never know the secret heart of your loved one, but at least you can accept that he or she has a right to it. You’re honored and adored for giving others enough space in which to honor and adore you.  ***first time yours is about love and mine isn’t!!***

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You’re right for a job. Others may be more qualified, but that doesn’t make them more right. Believe the position is yours. By going forward, you learn that the only credential required is fearless action.

ARIES: When she likes you, she is mean. It’s a test. TAURUS: She’ll be even prettier, making an effort to dress, make-up and perfume herself for you. GEMINI: She’ll talk to you — a lot. Chatter away. Don’t try and make sense of it, just listen. CANCER: She’ll compete with you. Show strength, and don’t let her win. LEO: She’ll say and do outrageous things to shock and impress you. VIRGO: She’ll give advice, try to help you — or control you! LIBRA: She’ll be friendly and put herself in the position of “accidentally” running into you. SCORPIO: She’ll flirt — subtly, with a level of sophistication that blows your mind. SAGITTARIUS: She’ll try to see you outside of school, meet you at the mall or the movies. CAPRICORN: She’ll want to go to prom with you and start scrolling your name on her school folders. AQUARIUS: She’ll become your best buddy. PISCES: She’ll stare at you, waiting for you to approach.

Based on the book by Jhumpa Lahiri. One of the most anticipated books of the year, Lahiri’s first novel (after 1999’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Interpreter of Maladies) amounts to less than the sum of its parts. Hopscotching across 25 years, it begins when newlyweds Ashoke and Ashima Ganguli emigrate to Cambridge, Mass., in 1968, where Ashima immediately gives birth to a son, Gogol-a pet name that becomes permanent when his formal name, traditionally bestowed by the maternal grandmother, is posted in a letter from India, but lost in transit. Ashoke becomes a professor of engineering, but Ashima has a harder time assimilating, unwilling to give up her ties to India. A leap ahead to the ’80s finds the teenage Gogol ashamed of his Indian heritage and his unusual name, which he sheds as he moves on to college at Yale and graduate school at Columbia, legally changing it to Nikhil. In one of the most telling chapters, Gogol moves into the home of a family of wealthy Manhattan WASPs and is initiated into a lifestyle idealized in Ralph Lauren ads. Here, Lahiri demonstrates her considerable powers of perception and her ability to convey the discomfort of feeling “other” in a world many would aspire to inhabit. After the death of Gogol’s father interrupts this interlude, Lahiri again jumps ahead a year, quickly moving Gogol into marriage, divorce and a role as a dutiful if a bit guilt-stricken son. This small summary demonstrates what is most flawed about the novel: jarring pacing that leaves too many emotional voids between chapters. Lahiri offers a number of beautiful and moving tableaus, but these fail to coalesce into something more than a modest family saga. By any other writer, this would be hailed as a promising debut, but it fails to clear the exceedingly high bar set by her previous work. (from Publishers Weekly on

Movie directed by Mira Nair, starring Kal Penn. To be released March 9, 2007.

LEO: January 25 and 26 may be tricky days and possibly your heart will play tricks on you. Life intensifies as dramatic scenarios play themselves out. Take your time and avoid knee jerk reactions. It is most likely that the events unfolding these days will be etched into your memory for the rest of your life. Fate plays a big role. Life events offer opportunities to get your life on track and in line with the way that you want it to be

PISCES: Love is on the horizon; actually it may be on your doorstep. Certainly February will be a most unusual time in which creativity is heightened along with popularity and some hilarity. All in all you can expect a whirlwind month in which all kinds of unique and bizarre events come to pass. I can just see that imagination getting revved up as you read these words. Pull out all the stops and enjoy whatever the universe brings your way in the next several weeks.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You’re getting to know a new social set. These potential friends seem strange and are into such different kinds of things than you normally would be. But it’s amazing how quickly you’ll take to them. ***friend! his friends!***

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You can be close to someone in proximity and be miles apart on the inside. Instead of living with uncomfortable feelings, let them out. They’ll be well-received.

PISCES: The moon passes through Pisces from January 21 to 23 heightening your emotions and sensitivity greatly. A surprise or two may come along on January 21. You may be surprised with your reactions regarding emotional affronts or other scenarios that test your humility and patience. Love could be in the air and you may be feeling highly creative. Take advantage of the times and certainly follow your heart.

sidenote: Jan 21-23 =  restless sleep with lots of dreams, night sweats, and left cheek/eye twitching uncontrollably.

LEO: It must be somewhat profound to be a Leo right now. Saturn continues to visit until early September bringing and etching powerful and profound realities into your consciousness. A make-or-break energy is onboard and you may decide to end particular relationships or they may end anyway. You might also decide to solidify a relationship, such as getting married. Either could be the case. Take your time in all that you do as you may not be seeing the picture clearly these days. January 19 to 25 are important days in which many changes may occur. Play your cards close to the chest and let things stand the test of time.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). All work and no play won’t make you a dull person, but all of the same kind of work might. Change it up. Variety keeps you vibrating at a high intensity. Tonight, a Pisces person makes you laugh.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You’re no control freak. You appreciate guidance, and love a person who takes charge. Still, there are times (and today is one of them) when the one who knows best is you.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Romance thrives with equal parts neglect and attentiveness. Too much of one or the other knocks the relationship off balance. Sensitize yourself to subtleties that tell you what a partner needs.

ARIES: All years are not created equal. This year outshines the last. So you may want to do a review, somehow documenting the highlights of 2006 just so it doesn’t get eclipsed by 2007, and so you don’t forget all that groundwork you did to allow 2007 to unfold so graciously. LOVE: You can’t help but be gleeful when relationships are useful as well as emotionally satisfying. The right person can improve your living quarters and give you the career push you need, too. March and June are favored for hot dates and new connections. September is commitment time. CAREER: The second week of February brings the motivation you’ve needed to step it up. There’s a chance to move laterally in October, but this turns out to be a jump in pay and in power. ADVENTURE: July is your best vacation month. A getaway with friends in September is just as exotic, though it’s rather local by comparison. FINANCE: A solid investment made in April enables you to have more choices. Don’t let loved ones influence you in August. You’re a maverick. What works for others won’t work for you, and what works for you is unreachable to others.
